A man and child were taken to hospital after a dramatic sea rescue on a beach in Wales. The man fractured both his ankles while trying to save two children from the sea at Prestatyn in Denbighshire.
Local RNLI and coastguard teams were called to the scene at 4.45pm on Sunday, reports the Daily Post. Two lifeboat crews from Rhyl attended to help the Prestatyn RNLI lifeguards on the beach.
They gave the man pain relief near the Nova Centre at the beach until the arrival of paramedics. He had fractured his ankles while trying to save two children who were struggling in the sea, and an air ambulance was also called.
One of the children had ingested a lot of water and was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd by ambulance. The man was also taken for treatment for the breaks to his ankles.
Coxswain Martin Jones, of Rhyl lifeboat, said: "Once again, this was an operation successfully carried out by multiple agencies, to ensure the safety of the casualties. We hope the patients have a full recovery from their ordeal."
