E-scooters have soared in popularity, with thousands of Bristolians using them every day. Some people just hire one for leisure trips, while for others, they're part of their daily commute.
One of the main problems though in our city is when they are parked in irresponsible places. Designated parking bays for scooters are dotted across Bristol, with many close together, meaning if one is full, you will be able to find another close by.
But while parking bays exist, people still don’t always use them. A man from Bristol has taken to Reddit to share his recent experience with a scooter blocking an entire pavement. In his post, he shared a picture of the scooter spread across a narrow footpath, with the caption: "If you do this, you're an “a*****es.”

Speaking to Bristol Live he also said: "The bigger issue is that that section of pavement is dangerously narrow. If it’s not Vois then it’s blocked by people’s wheelie bins, and it’s on a blind corner that people speed past."

People soon took to the comments section on the post to offer advice, “Report it to Voi, there's a licence plate in the back so they should be able to find out who dumped it as I'm guessing that's not one of their parking bays,” one Reddit user suggested.
Anther agreed that Whitehall Road was dangerous to walk down. They said: "It's a savage little stretch of road.
Others suggested that while it was wrong to leave the scooter there that maybe it wasn’t completely their fault, “It's obviously bad parking, but it looks like the battery ran out on them and it would go no further. Still the user's fault, as they should have checked the battery was full enough for their trip, but Voi have been getting worse at recharging recently.”
We contacted Voi for comment, and a spokesperson said "We're very sorry if pedestrians are affected by inconsiderate parking. Anyone who spots a badly parked e-scooter can report it either on the Voi app or through our website https://report.voi.com/ . Our rangers patrol the streets of Bristol all day and will deal with any issues like this.”
"The majority of our riders follow our advice and training about parking. We use technology to assist with good parking and we are able to fine anyone who parks badly or inconsiderately."
