A man has been left baffled after uncovering 150 corn on the cobs under his floorboards. He explained how he was working on his 18th century home when he decided to take a look under the floorboards to see the condition of the wood underneath.
While he was expecting to see a few problem areas considering his house is more than 300 years old, he did not think he'd be faced with a stash of corn. He said: "I found 150 pieces of corn in my floor. What should I do with this corn?" T
he man believes a previous homeowner must have put the corn there as a form of "insulation" - but questions why anybody would choose corn as their go-to option.
He added on Reddit: "Why would they put dirty ass corn in the floor and nail it shut?"
However, he remains thankful it didn't cause him any "mouldy smell" problems, with him assuming "It most likely didn't [biodegrade] because the weather didn't get to it and it was closed off".
Commenting on his find, one user said: "Gasp! Your house is built on an ancient corn burial ground. You run the risk of chicken ghosts coming to claim it. That's right - poultrygeists."
Another user added: "Call your local university, there maybe extinct strains of corn in there."
A third user said: "I found stashes of nuts in my house from squirrels. It was only a 1970s house - this looks like that."
One more user added: "Somebody had a corntastic day."
It comes after a woman discovered a shrine to Nicolas Cage in her house, complete with candles, goblets and movie paraphernalia.
She had called workman to her house to have new cables laid - and had no idea about the shrine hidden away in the crawlspace.
When her cable technicians got to work, they came across at least 12 photos of Nicolas Cage hanging on string from the ceiling, a kneeling rug, candles, a goblet, and a box full of items seen in his movies.
She had lived in the house for an entire year before discovering the shrine - and has been left wondering which one of her previous homeowners installed it.
