A man was taken to hospital after being assaulted at a pub in Kilwinning.
The incident happened shortly before 1am on Sunday morning at an as-yet unnamed venue on the town's Main Street.
The 36-year-old victim was subsequently taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries with police launching a probe into what happened.
The suspect is described as a white man, between 5ft 10in and 6ft tall. He was wearing grey shorts and dark trainers with white soles, and had a tattoo on his left arm.
Detective Sergeant Andrea Templeton said: “We are appealing for anyone in the area at the time who may have witnessed this to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0267 of 4 June, 2023. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
