A man was asked to leave Nottingham's Old Market Square after shouting during a two-minute silence for the Queen, police have said. Nottinghamshire Police said officers approached the man after he disrupted the observation at around 12pm, on the day of the Queen's state funeral.
A spokesperson for the force said: "The man was shouting in the Market Square, officers walked towards him and he thought they were firearms cops so dropped to his knees and put his hands on his head.
"The officers spoke to him, he apologised and they took his details and the man was then asked to leave." People across the United Kingdom took part in the silence towards the end of Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral in Westminster Abbey.
There was no further reported disruption to those wishing to pay their respects to the Queen in Nottingham on Monday, September 19.
