A frustrated man has spoken of his "insufferable" plane journey after the kid beside him was restless for the whole flight and kept kicking around "like he was on a bed". The man who was trying to get some sleep on the five-hour flight was becoming increasingly irritated by the child, who kept disturbing him.
He explained that the boy was playing on iPad and would "pound the screen with his fist" and when his mum attempted to take the device away from him, he would scream at her, the Mirror reports. The passenger eventually had enough and asked the mum to swap seats with her son as he was so fed up with the loud child kicking him.
Taking to Reddit, the anonymous man asked other users how he could approach the situation. He explained: "This kid was sitting directly to my left and his mum was left of him. This kid was insufferable. He was on his iPad most of the flight playing some game that had him pounding the screen with his fist (trying to tap coins). This was keeping me awake.
"He would get restless and kick around like he was on a bed , and kicked me several times. I gave his mum several looks and she half-apologised but didn’t discipline the kid. I eventually couldn’t take it anymore, I was boiling, and asked her to switch seats with with him.
"She said okay but then slid in a, 'he’s just a kid.' I responded with, 'I just don’t want to get kicked. They switched and he kept it up another hour but at least I wasn’t getting kicked anymore. He finally tired himself out and slept the last hour of the five hour plus flight."
Reddit users flocked to the comments to offer their advice and how they would have handled the awkward situation. One person replied: "You should've asked the mum to switch seats sooner and that's all you can do really."
Another wrote: "Totally normal to feel that way. I’m a parent, but some situations can be a bit much." A third remarked: "If you don't teach your kid rules and how to self calm for long trips, then they are doomed when they take a long flight like this."
