A man has been arrested after two attempted robberies in the space of one week.
Merseyside Police confirmed that on Wednesday, June 1, a 36-year-old Bootle man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. He has been detained in connection with an attempted robbery at Halifax bank in Bootle Strand shopping centre on Monday, May 30 and an attempted robbery at a post office in Park Lane in Netherton, earlier today.
He has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives.

On Monday, emergency services swarmed to Bootle Strand following reports of an attempted robbery at the bank. No injuries were reported but members of staff and customers in the bank were left "extremely shaken" by the incident.
After the incident, centre management posted a statement on the shopping centre's website and Facebook page confirming the banking store will be closed "until further notice".
On Wednesday afternoon, a police cordon was seen in place around Park Lane post office in Netherton following another attempted robbery. Road closures were in place on Park Lane around the junction with Hereford Drive as motorists are urged to seek alternative routes.
