Man arrested on suspicion of production of explosives after police called to home

A man was arrested on suspicion of production of explosives after police were called to a home in Salford.

Emergency services were scrambled to a property on Brentwood in the Seedley area at around 1.30am on Sunday (October 6). Officers were called to the scene after 'suspicious materials' were found, police said.

A man - aged in his 30s - was arrested. He was then detained under the Mental Health Act.

Police said the materials were 'found to be household products which are not illegal to own'. Local residents reported seeing a large emergency response on the street on Sunday.

In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 1.30am on Sunday 6 October 2022, we were called to reports of suspicious materials found at a property in the Brentwood Area of Seedley, Salford. However, following our analysis of the materials they were found to be household products which are not illegal to own.

"One man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of production of explosives and has been detained under the Mental Health Act."
