Man arrested in connection with serious assault in Kildare released without charge

A man who was arrested in connection with a serious assault in Kildare on Saturday has been released without charge.

Gardai and emergency services were called to the incident at a residence in Clane, County Kildare, at around 11am, where they found a man in his 50s in serious condition.

He was taken to Tallaght University Hospital and remains there, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

A garda spokesperson said: “The man arrested in connection with a serious assault on a man in his 50s that occurred on the morning of Saturday, 2nd July, 2022, at a residence in Clane, County Kildare, has been released without charge in relation to this incident and a file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

“Investigations into this matter are ongoing.”

Gardai are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this incident or to any person with information to come forward.

Gardai are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were in The Avenue area of Abbeylands between 11am and 11:30am on Saturday, 2nd July, 2022, to make this footage available to them.
