Man arrested as schoolgirl dies after being hit by taxi in north London

  • A 16-year-old schoolgirl has died after being struck by an Addison Lee taxi during her morning commute on North Road in Highgate, north London.
  • Emergency services, including paramedics, police officers, fire brigade personnel, and an air ambulance, attended the scene at around 8.11am on Thursday, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the location.
  • A 68-year-old man who was driving the Addison Lee vehicle was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
  • Highgate School and Addison Lee both expressed deep sadness and offered condolences to the teenager's family, with the private hire firm confirming it is fully supporting the police investigation.
  • The Metropolitan Police have informed the victim's family, who are being supported by specialist officers, and have appealed for any witnesses or those with information to contact 101 quoting reference CAD1525/24Sept.
