A man in his 40s has been arrested after an armed robbery of a shop on Grafton Street in Dublin's city centre.
The horrific incident happened yesterday afternoon at around 3:20pm when a lone thief stormed into the shop armed with a weapon and threatened terrified staff members.
He quickly fled on foot after robbing multiple things from the shop.
But Gardai from Pearse Street Station quickly tracked down and arrested a man, where the stolen items were also discovered.
A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardai in Pearse Street have arrested one man following an armed robbery that occurred at a business premises on Grafton Street, Dublin 2 on the afternoon of Wednesday 16th February, 2022.
"At approximately 3.20p.m. yesterday afternoon a lone male entered the business premises on Grafton Street armed with a weapon and threatened the staff members. He left the scene on foot with a number of items from the premises.
"In a follow up search Gardai arrested one man (early 40's) and a number of items stolen from the premises were located. He was taken to Pearse Street Garda station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"The investigations is ongoing."
