Man arrested after police seize cash, drugs and vehicle during early morning raid

A man has been arrested after police seized cash, drugs and a car during an early morning raid in Bury.

Officers executed a search warrant at a property in the borough on Monday morning (February 27) where the man, who is aged in his 20s, was subsequently arrested.

During the raid, officers seized a quantity of cash and class A and class B drugs, alongside a white Skoda vehicle thought to have been used as part of criminal activity.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B controlled drugs as well as the possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. He remains in custody.

Greater Manchester Police’s Economic Unit Money Laundering Team described the seizure and arrest as a ‘fantastic step towards’ a crackdown on drugs and financial activity in the city-region.

Detective Inspector James Coles said: “We will not tolerate criminals in our communities in Greater Manchester.

“The arrest we’ve made today is a fantastic step towards an ongoing drugs and money laundering operation officers have been heavily involved in.

“We will continue and carry on targeting those suspected to be involved in criminal activity and seize assets and cash which can be reinvested into the communities of Greater Manchester and funnelled to those who need it.”

Anyone with information about suspicious financial activity can report it online via the GMP website or by calling 101. Details can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
