Man arrested after 'life changing' stabbing in City of London

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in the City of London.

Police were called shortly after 5am on Wednesday following a serious assault on Castle Baynard Street.

A 32-year-old man was apprehended by police officers close to the scene and has been taken into custody.

The Standard understands that the man and the victim were known to each other.

Blood-stained concrete could be seen at the scene on Wednesday morning close to a small section of the cycle highway that was cordoned off.

City of London Police said the London Ambulance Service also attended the scene and a man has been taken to hospital with stab injuries.

His wounds are believed to be life changing but not life threatening, the force said.

City of London Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
