Man arrested after letting dog driving his car and posting video on social media

This is the astonishing moment a barking mad motorist allows his dog to “drive” his car, landing him in hot water with police.

The Israeli man uploaded the video to social media which sparked a hunt and eventually resulted in his arrest.

He made his pet to sit on his lap in the drivers' seat with the dog seen holding the steering wheel with its paws for over a minute.

Police duly shared the idiotic footage of the brazen man driving past a number of pedestrians while dodging other cars with his dog at the wheel.

The clip was taken as the the vehicle travelled down a street in Jerusalem.

The man, who has not been identified, has been arrested for endangering himself and other drivers, police say.

The force said in a statement: “Those who do such acts disrespect human life.

“We will continue to work to enforce serious traffic offences and prosecute suspects who endanger road users with their actions.”

The resident of the Arab-Israel village of Ein Nakuba has been detained for questioning, the Jewish Chronicle reports.

But police tracked him down and arrested him at his home (Twitter)

Police also found that the required road tests to drive in Israel has not been passed.

In the UK, the Highway Code warns: "Don’t allow your pet to ride with its head hanging out of the window, as it’s potentially dangerous and can cause injury. Keep it suitably restrained.

"Always carry a large water bottle (5 litres minimum) in case your pet overheats and needs to be rapidly cooled in an emergency.

"Use sun shades on the windows when it is hot or the sun is bright and never leave a pet in a hot car.

"Don’t feed your pet within two hours of starting a long car journey to avoid carsickness. Pack a favourite toy or blanket to give your pet a sense of familiarity."
