A man has been arrested after a seven-year-old boy was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in Kent.
William Brown was hit by a vehicle just after 5.30pm on Wednesday in Sandgate Esplanade in Folkestone, Kent. The crash also involved a red Citroen car.
His heartbroken father on Thursday said he had been hit by a car while picking up his football from the street.
Kent Police said that a 49-year-old man from the Dymchurch area was arrested on Thursday and taken into custody.
William was confirmed dead at the scene near the junction with Prospect Road. He leaves behind his mother, Laura, and a six-year-old sister Pearl.
His mother told the BBC that her son was playing football when he went to collect his ball.
She said: “Someone killed my son and left him in the middle of the road.
"Please help us find this person. I'm begging you. Do it for William."
In a video shared with Kent Online, the boy’s father, William Brown Senior, said he was a "beautiful boy".
"He believed in forgiveness and love, and peace, we already forgive you.
“If it’s you, you’re feeling guilty, but we really need to know so we can lay our son in peace and know what happened to him.”
