A MAN has appeared in court accused of wilful fire-raising following a major blaze at a Glasgow tenement block earlier this month.
Graeme Moxey, 48, who has no fixed address, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court charged in connection with wilful fire-raising.
He made no plea and was committed for further examination.
Moxey was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again within the next eight days.
The charge relates to a fire which broke out at around 4.50pm at an empty tenement building on Stonyhurst Street in North Glasgow.
Emergency services were called to the scene, where the blaze caused extensive damage to the four-storey property.
Images from the incident showed part of the roof had collapsed as firefighters battled the flames.
Six fire appliances and specialist high-reach equipment were deployed to tackle the fire, with crews remaining at the scene into the following day.
No injuries were reported.
The tenement is one of three blocks currently being refurbished by NG Homes to create 23 affordable rented flats.
The site had been undergoing renovation work at the time of the fire.
