A man accused of kidnapping a woman and her child and repeatedly assaulting them has been arrested hiding under a bed.
Police were alerted to reports that a domestic violence incident was unfolding at a Bolton Point home, at Lake Macquarie, about 3.30pm on Tuesday, August 11.
Officers forced their way inside and had to deploy capsicum spray to arrest Jay Colin Lambkin, 24, at the scene.
He was allegedly found hiding under a bed.
A woman and her child were home at the time. NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the pair before taking them to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
Police will allege in court that Lambkin threatened and assaulted the woman and her child on several occasions, including with a golf club.
He allegedly forced the woman and her child to attend a property in western Sydney, where he is accused of holding them there against their will.
Police took Lambkin to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with 12 offences.
He faces two counts each of being armed with intent, using an offensive weapon with intent, and domestic violence-related stalking or intimidating.

He also faces one charge of kidnapping and five other domestic violence-related offences, including four of assault and one of intentionally choking without consent.
The 24-year-old man was refused bail to face court on Wednesday, August 12, where he made no bid for release.
He did not appear in court and will remain behind bars ahead of his next court date in Newcastle in October.
Police will compile a brief of evidence in the meantime.
