An unfortunate incident at the U.S.-Canadian border has shed light on the dangers of human smuggling, resulting in the tragic deaths of four members of an Indian family. The incident, which occurred in January 2022, involved individuals attempting to cross the border in blizzard conditions, ultimately leading to the freezing deaths of the parents and their two young children.
The accused individuals, Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel and Steve Shand, are facing charges related to human smuggling. Patel, also known as 'Dirty Harry,' has a history of visa denials and is in the U.S. illegally. Shand, who allegedly drove the Indian nationals from the Canadian border to the Chicago area, has been previously charged with human smuggling.
