Man accused of attempted murder over Adelaide knife fight arrested in Melbourne

A man wanted for attempted murder has been arrested in Melbourne, following a large fight involving knives and a machete at a hotel in Adelaide's CBD last month.

The 23-year-old South Australian man was today arrested in Epping by detectives from Victoria Police and is accused of stabbing three people.

Armed with a warrant and accompanied by the dog squad, the Gang Crime Squad carried out the raid at the Peppercorn Parade address early this morning.

The arrest follows a large fight at the Producers Bar (formerly the Exchange Hotel) on Grenfell Street in Adelaide's CBD in the early hours of Sunday, March 13.

Several people were stabbed during the fight, which remains under investigation by SA Police's Operation Meld anti-gang task force.

Detectives from Operation Meld will arrive in Melbourne tomorrow to apply for the man's extradition.

"It will be alleged that during the affray, the arrested man stabbed three people."

There have been 19 arrests made in connection to the incident, police said.

In the hours after the fight, SA Police said six people had been taken to hospital, including one who was in a critical condition.

Several of the participants are known to police, and a machete and knives were seized.

The arrested man is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday.
