Man, 74, who died after being hit by a lorry in Salford is named

A man who died after being hit by a lorry in Salford has been named as Najaf Najafi.

The 74-year-old tragically died at the scene of the incident on Worsley Road North on February 8.

The driver of the lorry remained at the scene to assist officers.

Mr Najafi is understood to be from London.

An inquest into his death was opened at The Coroners Office in Bolton last Wednesday (February 16).

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said today that no arrests have been made in relation to the collision and enquiries are ongoing.

A huge emergency services presence was sparked at the time of the incident in Walkden.

Police, paramedics and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.

A large cordon was put in place on the road while officers from the Serious Collision Unit carried out investigations.
