Man, 57, charged with murder after body found with gunshot wound in Oberon

The accused has been refused bail and will face Bathurst Local Court on Friday. (ABC News)

Police have charged a 57-year-old man with murder after another man was found dead in a home on the New South Wales Central Tablelands on Thursday.

Officers from the Chifley Police District were called to Jenolan Street in Oberon on yesterday morning where they found the body with a gunshot wound.

The deceased is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be a man in his 30s.

On Thursday Luke Simon was arrested at the house and taken to Bathurst Police Station to assist with inquiries.

A crime scene has been established and specialist forensic police have seized a firearm for examination.

Police say initial inquiries suggest the two men were known to each other.

Mr Simon has been refused bail and the case has been adjourned until April.
