A man has died after he collapsed during a trek in the Lake District.
The 56-year-old collapsed when he was out walking with his friends up Crag Hill on Wednesday (December 28), LancsLive reports. He had originally stopped before reaching the summit as he felt tired, but he then fell unconscious.
His friends called 999 for help and commenced CPR. The Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was scrambled to help at around 1.39pm.

19 Keswick team members were accompanied by 12 Cockermouth members during this rescue. When the teams arrived on scene, there was nothing that could be done to save the man, rescuers said.
The entire rescue mission took more than five hours. A spokesperson for Keswick Mountain Rescue said: "A 56 year old male was out walking with a couple of friends near the summit of Crag Hill.
"The man sat down tired, then collapsed unconscious. The man’s friends called 999 for help and commenced CPR. Keswick team approached via Force Crag mines and Coledale Hause.
"Cockermouth MRT were also called to assist with the rescue as well as R199 Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick. The weather and visibility did not allow the helicopter to approach so it was forced to return.
"Team members arrived on scene but tragically there was nothing that could be done to save the man. Our deepest thoughts and sympathies go out to the man’s family and friends."
