A 37-year-old man faces drug trafficking charges after a police search at a home in Canberra's north early on Friday morning found a "substantial" amount of suspected methamphetamine.
More charges are likely as the investigation continues, police said.
The man's Moncrieff home was searched about 4.45am on Friday, after police had identified the 37-year-old as a person of interest in an investigation into drug trafficking and the possession of prohibited firearms that began in July.
Police said they found approximately 28 grams of a crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine, about 1.4 litres of suspected liquid methamphetamine, as well as a "substantial quantity of crystalline substance", suspected to be methamphetamine, in the carpet of one of the bedrooms.
Police said they arrested the man at the Moncrieff home. He was charged with trafficking in a controlled drug other than cannabis.
The 37-year-old was set to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
