Man, 27, suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit by Volvo in Warrington

A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car on a busy Warrington road. Police were called out to Chester Road, at the junction with Slutchers Lane, at around 1.50am this morning (October 2).

It followed reports of a collision between a grey Volvo XC60 and a pedestrian. Cheshire Police says the pedestrian, a 27-year-old local man, was rushed to Aintree Hospital for treatment.

His injuries have been described as serious and life-threatening. The driver of the car, a 32-year-old man from Runcorn, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries, Cheshire Police says. A spokesperson for the force added: "Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have captured dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward."
