A man is undergoing treatment after he was shot in the leg in Edgeworth on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to a carpark in Arnott Street, just after 9pm after reports of a public-place shooting.
Paramedics treated a 27-year-old man at the scene for a gunshot wound to the right leg. He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition, police said.
Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District secured a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the incident.
Police said the man has declined to provide a statement to officers at this time, and investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage, to contact Lake Macquarie Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
