A 24-year-old man has been rushed to hospital following a serious attack this morning.
Around 3.37am on Christmas Eve West Yorkshire Police officers were called to Hirst's Yard in Leeds city centre following reports of an assault. They found a man with serious injuries to his face and hand.
It left Call Lane closed for around seven hours while a forensic investigation was carried out. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a police car guarding the busy area, and the outdoor seating area of Red True's Barbeque was taped off.
A police spokesperson said: "A 24-year-old male victim had received non serious injuries to his face and hand. He was taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident."
A further cordon blocked off the whole stretch of Call Lane - blocking off a number of bars which were expected to be busy today.
