A teenager who was stabbed to death outside a supermarket in Finchley, north London, on Monday has been named as Yusuf Mohamoud.
A murder investigation is underway after the 18-year-old was found with serious stab wounds on Regents Park Road at 9.40pm.
Police believe Mr Mohamoud was stabbed near the junction with Lichfield Grove and then ran over the road to a supermarket.
Footage of the scene shows supermarket workers coming out to tend to the “seriously injured” victim before paramedics arrived.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A teenager, 15, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday and remains in custody, but enquiries into Mr Mohamoud’s death continue.
Police are appealing for witnesses who were in the area between 9pm and 10pm on on Monday August 7.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Rawlinson, investigating, said: “I would reiterate my appeal to anyone who was in the area of Regents Park Road, near the junction with Lichfield Grove, and who witnessed the events that led to the attack on Yusuf to come forward and speak to police.
“Another young man has died as a result of violence and left a family devastated - we need the public’s help to ensure Yusuf’s family get the justice they deserve.”
A post-mortem examination on Wednesday gave the cause of death as a stab wound.
Mr Mohamoud’s next of kin have been informed and continue to be supported by officers.
