Malone RFC announce new role to enhance youth rugby at the club

Malone Rugby Football Club has always been proud of its youth rugby set-up.

For many years now, it has opened its doors to anyone who wanted to play rugby, from beginners to experienced players.

Everyone has been made welcome and there have always been coaches on hand to improve everyone’s game and skill levels.

In view of this and to help enhance youth rugby at Malone the club has announced a new role and position as Dave Cave becomes the club's first Head of Youth Rugby.

This new post is designed to support and develop young players in the catchment areas.

The aim is to further enhance the environment for the players to enjoy rugby at a place where they can really flourish and achieve their potential.

Dave’s role is to coordinate and drive all our youth rugby at the club, both boys and girls, and provide a pathway for youth players to move seamlessly into 1st XV and senior rugby enhancing the sustainability of players at all levels.

Dave will also be working closely with local schools and organisations to build relationships with Malone.

David Heron, who has worked closely with Dave over the last season with youth rugby said: “From a Malone point of view this is fantastic to see.

"I have seen Dave’s work first hand this season when he has been coaching various age groups at the club.

"Dave’s experience and overarching view of mini and youth rugby at the club can only give direction to and improve these sections within the club as well as promote Malone RFC into local non-rugby playing schools.

"This is an important development for youth rugby at Malone and we wish Dave every success."
