Malik Tillman to Rangers on permanent deal faces Bayern Munich hurdle as German giants retain major belief

Hopeful Bayern Munich remain full of belief over Malik Tillman's talents with Rangers keen to land the USA international on a permanent deal.

Tillman has enjoyed an excellent season with Rangers since joining from the Bundesliga giants on loan last summer. Rangers have first option on him for a £5million deal if Bayern decides to sell him. Bayern are keeping close tabs on the 20-year-old's progress in Scotland and their youth team manager, Danny Galm, has hinted they see Tillman as a future first team player.

He said: "We had some players like Jamal Musiala or Thomas Muller, who established themselves in the team right away. The most important thing is that the boys all need regular minutes of play. If they don't play upstairs in the first team straight away, there's still the possibility of making it. The most important thing is that the boys all need regular minutes of play. "Look at Philipp Lahm - we sent him to Stuttgart, David Alaba went to Hoffenheim, or Toni Kroos, who was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen. They all played at a top level before returning to us. We currently have a few loan players like that. Malik Tillman at Rangers for example or Gabriel Vidovic at Vitesse Arnhem and Bright Arrey-Mbi at Hannover. They could all follow a similar path.

"We can certainly point to success going down that route. All the guys are very talented, have their qualities and sporting abilities. From a certain level, however, the head coach - Julian Nagelsmann - ultimately decides where their journey is going. They need a little bit of luck, which is always necessary and the right attitude to make it and the ones I have mentioned have that."

Ibrox boss Michael Beale insisted he was relaxed about the situation last week. He said: "We have the first opportunity to buy him. Bayern have a decision whether they feel he’s going to play for them. There’s a number, we know what it is and we’re comfortable with the number.

"At the moment, everything is fine. I’ll be honest, I haven’t even had that conversation with Malik. It’s not like you get him in a room and put a gun to his head and ask: 'Do you want to be here?' I think he has to show you that in his performances and the way he’s playing."
