Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged people to celebrate National Handloom Day with the same enthusiasm as Friendship Day, calling on citizens to wear handloom products, support weaving communities and even create "Get Ready With Me" (GRWM) videos to promote India's rich handloom heritage.

In a reel posted on Instagram ahead of National Handloom Day on August 7, Modi said the occasion should become a mass movement that economically benefits lakhs of families dependent on the sector.
