The majority of Scots want to see the end of greyhound racing, according to a new poll.
The latest blow comes as government advisers ponder a report that many expect will signal the end of the sport north of the border. Scotland has just one unregulated, operational track in Thornton but the Scottish Animal Welfare Commission’s report, due at the end of next month, could spell the end for all dog racing.
The new survey by Panelbase on behalf of GREY2K USA Worldwide, which seeks to protect greyhounds, shows that six in ten Scottish think the Scottish Parliament should vote to phase the sport out. A similar number said they have an unfavourable view of the sport.
