Landing a five-star caliber player is never an easy journey in big-time college football.
Recruiting often takes place years before they actually commit, and considering there are only a few dozen players at that level in each class, one typically has to be a high-profile program to bring them in as well.
The Ohio State football program has had tremendous success over the last decade adding the best of the best from the high school ranks, and the 2025 recruiting class will be no different as three of the six four recruits have already committed to Columbus.
However, there’s another name to keep an eye on as his decision should be coming in soon, and it could help change the college landscape.
David Sanders Jr., from Charlotte, NC, is set to make his decision soon, and On3 analyst Josh Newberg is changing his prediction. He now believes Tennessee is the frontrunner to land the nation’s No. 3-overall prospect.
“But I’ve also at times had my best guess on Ohio State. And then even early in the process, you looked at Georgia. I never had Clemson in the one-hole (for Sanders). Who knows, maybe we’re sleeping on Georgia. But my best guess today would be Tennessee,” Newberg said.

Sanders is the best offensive lineman in the class.
The Buckeyes were thought to be the premier target for him, but it appears Tennessee, and even Clemson, are gaining steam while the Buckeyes are starting to take a backseat.
Ohio State has one four-star recruit on the offensive line for the Class of 2025, but otherwise is looking pretty thin at the group. Sanders Jr. would be a huge get for the Buckeyes.
