Construction on the new White Rose Rail Station has finally begun and is set to continue into 2023.
The station will cost a total of £26.5 million and it is hoped it will provide more access to the White Rose Office Park, bus interchange and White Rose Shopping Centre. It will also include bike storage and better walking and cycling routes between Cottingley, Churwell and Millshaw.
According to Tracy Brabin, the Mayor of West Yorkshire, the station is part of the Combined Authority's attempts to foster economic growth in the region. She said: “Growing our economy is a key priority, but we are very clear that growth need to benefit everyone in our region.
