A NUMBER of road closures remain in place as Scotland continues to be hit by Storm Babet.
In posts on Twitter/X, Traffic Scotland confirmed that the A90 remains closed “between Dundee and Stonehaven due to the Sepa flood warning in place”.
It added: “Traffic is being diverted via the A9/A95 NB and A95/A9 SB. Local access will remain in place.”
When one user asked if there was any update on when the road might be opening, it replied: “No timescale for the road reopening. There is local access to Brechin with extreme care.”
It comes after hundreds of residents in Brechin were forced to evacuate after the River South Esk burst its banks.
Elsewhere Traffic Scotland said the A92 remains closed between the Forgan Roundabout and the Melville Lodges Roundabout.
“The route is expected to remain closed for some time,” it said.
What about trains?
ScotRail also issued an update this morning as disruption across the rail network is expected to continue as a result of the storm.
It said the following lines would remain closed:
- Aberdeen-Elgin
- Aberdeen-Dundee
- Perth-Dundee
- Far North & Kyle of Lochalsh lines remain closed due to planned engineering works
On the buses, Stagecoach East Scotland said all services in Angus remain suspended today due to flooding.
Services in Perth are operating however, albeit with delays.
Meanwhile, there are fears that a second major river could burst its banks.
Aberdeenshire Council has said the latest modelling suggests a considerable risk of flooding on the River Don at Inverurie, Kemnay and Kintore.
