A French company will bring 200 jobs to Wales when it opens its first major nuclear production facility in the UK. Industrial giant Boccard, which is headquartered in Lyon, has unveiled the new facility at Broughton in Flintshire.
The engineering, manufacturing, construction and maintenance company is expanding its nuclear business in the UK and said it wanted to be based in Broughton because it is a "growing focal point for the nuclear industries". It hopes to take advantage of the highly-skilled labour pool on their doorstep, the company added.
The Boccard Broughton facility will have 150 direct jobs on site and create another 50 in the supply chain. It will provide a major boost to the Deeside region, which is also home to Airbus’ wing production operations, as well as the £20m Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) which opened in 2019.
