A new store has opened in Nottingham city centre on Middle Pavement, just off Bridlesmith Gate in an area known for its fashion. Mint Duck has opened its doors to the public and offers a range of designer clothing.
The store is located next door to Aveda and is the latest independent store to open as the area undergoes a period of transformation following a tough few years due to Covid restrictions and the demolition of Broadmarsh. The store, which was previously a selfie location, has undergone a complete transformation to a much lighter and more welcoming shop.

Mint Duck offers a range of premium clothing from established brands such as Lacoste and Gant. Manager Jane Collingham who is based in Annesley is planning to host VIP nights which will make the most of the custom pool table and drinks section of the shop.
The shop has been open for a week with plans to hold a launch party in the next few weeks. Jane says the reaction has been really positive from customers. It has taken the store about 18 months to get from planning stages to opening the door to the public.
"We opened on Saturday and its been really good as we've been really busy. We still have lots to do in terms of promotion and marketing but it's been really good. We were especially busy on Sunday," she said.
The independent store has opened in a good location for fashion and high-end design. Other brands in the area include Stick and Ribbon, Flannels, Paul Smith and Fred Perry. Mint Duck stocks premium men's and children's wear selling Lacoste and Gant Clothing.
There are also some Nottingham independent shops there too such as Sauce and Brown along with the boxer Leigh Wood's brand, Margatsni. The shop also has both of footballer Jesse Lingard's brands Be Yourself which is a premium streetwear brand and Jlingz which is for children.
"We are in a really good position and the fact that we are so close to places like Jo Malone, Paul Smith or Stick and Ribbon is great for us. There are lots of cafes opening around here so the footfall is very good. This area is reclaiming its fashion hub reputation and we want to get people back into the city as opposed to shopping online."
"I think people have missed shopping in person. It's good to get people into the store to shop and actually see things in person."
There are plans to host VIP nights in the store and customers will also have the option of playing a game of pool, or two, on the large white pool table which functions as a display stand during the day.
The team has launched a competition in collaboration with Jling children's streetwear brand to offer a local kid's team the chance to win a full kit. The winners will be drawn at random with a presentation in store for the lucky team.
Jane highlighted that Jesse's clothing has been selling well since the store opened. The shop also stocks the Margatsni range from boxer Leigh Woods and tickets for his latest fight are also on sale at Mint Duck.
"We do the Lacoste range along with Lacoste kids and Gant too. We have some amazing independent brands too such as Sauce and Brown and JLing Kinds which is Jesse Lingard's brand that has proved to be very popular."
She added: "We have flexibility as we are independent so we don't have to adhere to certain policies which means we can do our own thing. We are running a competition for a Nottingham child's football team to win a kit with our logo on it. We will be revealing the winner soon so we are hoping to get Jesse down to present the kit to the winning team."
