Major Las Vegas Strip Star Headliner Plans Return Engagement

Las Vegas Strip's historic reputation for hosting star performers for long-running residencies will continue many years into the future as the area's hotel casino theaters face new competition when the MSG Sphere opens in September with superstar band U2 opening the new venue.

The list of pop, rock and country music stars who have recently performed or are scheduled to soon take the stage on the Strip reads like an edition of "Who's Who in Music."

DON'T MISS: Las Vegas Strip Sees Once-Beloved Dining Choice Disappear

Classic rock performers have been a big draw to the Strip recently. Former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty, who has made multiple appearances in Las Vegas over the years, performed at Wynn Resorts' (WYNN) Encore Theater at the Wynn back in November for six shows and former Commodores lead singer Lionel Richie played six shows in October, also at the Wynn.

Tropical rock star Jimmy Buffett just wrapped up several shows at MGM Resorts International's (MGM) MGM Grand Garden, and "Juke Box Hero" performers Foreigner take the stage at the Venetian Theatre at The Venetian Resort for eight shows between March 24 and April 8 on its Best of Foreigner 4 & More Live residency.

Music Legends Coming to the Strip

Rock legend John Mellencamp returns to the Strip with two shows March 24-25 at the Encore Theatre, and James Taylor and His All-Star Band will continue the string of classic music artists to roll through the Strip this year as he takes the stage at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for five shows June 3, 4, 7, 9 and 10. The 1970s pop crooner Barry Manilow is continuing his residency at the Westgate Las Vegas in 2023, which will run into December.

Country singer Miranda Lambert resumes her long-running residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino with 23 shows scheduled starting March 24 and continuing in April, July, November and December. And Country star Keith Urban also has 11 shows scheduled in March, June and July at Planet Hollywood.

"Uptown Funk" singer Bruno Mars, who began performing his occasional residency at MGM Entertainment's Dolby Live at Park MGM in 2016, in February added six more shows to his residency at the theater on May 24, 27, 28, 31, June 2 and 3.

Maroon 5 has taken residency at the Park MGM for 16 shows spread out over March, April, July and August. Usher continues his residency also at the Park MGM with 35 more shows scheduled in March, April, June, July and October.

Adele Planning a Return to Colosseum

Superstar singer Adele originally planned her 24-show “Weekends With Adele” residency at the Caesars Entertainment's (CZR) Colosseum at Caesars Palace every Friday and Saturday from Jan. 21 until April 16, 2022. She had to cancel those shows, however, as members of her crew contracted covid and some of the set pieces designed for the performance were not ready.

Adele postponed the residency to Nov. 18, 2022, with a break from Christmas through Jan. 20, and will conclude her shows on March 25.

The popularity of the "Weekends With Adele" has reportedly prompted the singer to commit to extending her residency later this year. Adele could schedule a return between other shows from early June to early July or sometime in the venue's open schedule between August and November, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.
