A major fire ripped through a housing block in central London with flames seen leaping out of a window.
London Fire Brigade sent six fire engines and around 40 firefighters to the blaze on Bartholomew Close in Barbican on Thursday afternoon.
One man has been taken to hospital after fleeing the building before crews arrived.
Half of a four-roomed flat on the third floor was alight, the LFB said.
Initial reports were received by the emergency services at just before 4pm and the blaze was under control by around 6.15pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Witness Marcus Walker shared a video from the scene, which appeared to show one residence completely engulfed in bright orange flames.
He wrote: "A fire has broken out right next to St Bart's. Please pray for the people of Bartholomew Close and for the emergency services who have got here in record time."

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took more than 35 calls to the blaze.
Fire crews from Soho, East Greenwich, Lambeth and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
A smoke alarm can be heard in Marcus' video as he zooms in on the flames from the ground.
His Twitter profile says he is a clergyman in the Church of England in the Diocese of London.
Station Commander Steve Howlett, who was at the scene, said: "Firefighters are working incredibly hard to ensure everyone is accounted for and there are no remaining hot spots.
"The Brigade's drone team were able to use drones to survey the incident from above and relay images of hard-to-reach areas to incident commanders."
Firefighters are remaining at the scene this evening.
Operations at nearby St Bartholomew's Hospital have not been affected by the blaze.
A spokesperson for the Barts Health NHS Trust confirmed operations have not been affected with the fire's close proximity to the hospital.
