A man was rescued and taken to hospital after a serious fire at a house in Cardiff which also left five others needing treatment. The blaze broke out at a residential property in Cardiff on Thursday night and one man was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The fire occurred at Caswell Road, Rumney, at around 10.40pm on Thursday, June 29. Police said a 58-year-old man was rescued from the property and is in a stable condition at the University Hospital of Wales. A woman and four police officers were also treated for smoke inhalation.
Multiple emergency service crews attended the scene including numerous fire and ambulance crews. A South Wales Police statement said the cause of the fire was unknown and inquiries are continuing.
A force spokesman South Wales Police said: "At around 10.40pm on Thursday, June 29, a report was received of a property on fire in Caswell Road, Rumney. Emergency services attended and a 58-year-old male was rescued from the address. He remains in hospital in a stable condition. One woman and four police officers were treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is unknown and inquiries are continuing."
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called on Thursday, June 29, at approximately 10.48pm, to reports of a fire at a property on Caswell Road in Cardiff. We sent two rapid response vehicles, one emergency ambulance, and the hazardous area response team to the scene. We were supported by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service. One patient was transferred to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.”
A statement from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At approximately 10.41pm on Thursday, June 29, we received reports of a fire in Rumney, Cardiff. Multiple crews attended the incident alongside emergency service colleagues. A stop message was received at approximately 1.15am on Friday, June 30."
