Major Chelsea team news hint dropped as four players confirmed in squad for Leicester City clash

Graham Potter’s time as Chelsea manager has been blighted with injuries to key stars as he looks to alleviate any pressure placed on him. Just as it looked like the worst was behind the head coach, the club have been hit with a fresh batch of fitness concerns for this afternoon’s clash with Leicester City.

Reece James, who has faced numerous spells on the sideline this season, has been confirmed to be out with illness, while Raheem Sterling is a doubt due to a tight hamstring. Both played a key part in Chelsea’s midweek Champions League win against Borussia Dortmund, and without their respective issues Potter may have opted to stick with the same line-up.

However, he now faces a number of crucial selection dilemmas, not aided by the fellow absentees of Mason Mount, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and N'Golo Kante, alongside longer-term injuries sustained by Armando Broja and Thiago Silva. That being said, Potter does have a vast set of resources available to him when it comes to the playing staff.

And yesterday, a social media post has hinted at four players who will definitely be in the squad this afternoon. On Instagram, Ben Chilwell shared a photo to his story as the team departed to the East Midlands.

The picture showed the left-back taking a selfie alongside Christian Pulisic, Marc Cucurella and Kai Havertz on board their transportation to the King Power Stadium. They all looked in good spirits, and will all hope to receive game time against Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Pulisic returned the squad against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, even being given a brief second-half cameo as a substitute, having missed two months of action with a knee injury. Cucurella also had a positive evening at Stamford Bridge, as the heavily-criticised Spaniard was reinstated to the side and put in one of his finest displays in a Blues shirt on the left-hand side of the back-three.

Chilwell seemed to enjoy his left-wing-back berth, and can likely expect the same role against Leicester. Meanwhile Havertz notched up a much-needed goal - the decisive one in the two-legged tie - from the penalty spot, albeit at the second attempt.
