Major Bridgwater manufacturer marks 50 years in business

A family-run air filter manufacturing and services company in Somerset is celebrating 50 years in business.

Jasun Envirocare, which was established in 1972 and expanded into Bridgwater in 1987, now has four major sites in the town and employs more than 200 people.

Bridgwater's mayor, councillor Liz Leavy, visited the company, which is based on Parrett Way, on Friday (July 29) to meet with founder Barbara Foot and have a guided tour of the firm's production facility.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating 50 years in business and were honoured to welcome the mayor of Bridgwater, councillor Liz Leavy, as our VIP for the day," said Colin Hitch, managing director of Jasun Envirocare.

“It’s a fantastic achievement to have successfully completed five decades in business. In that time, we’ve expanded worldwide and have significant operations in Europe too. We’re going from strength to strength and have lots more to come in the future, with exciting times ahead to look forward to as well.”

Jasun Envirocare, which started in London with 11 employees, moved to Bridgwater after its factory was destroyed in a storm. In 1999, the company launch a website - a move it claims saw it become the first air filter business in the world to offer its full range of products online.

Ms Leavy said: “Congratulations to Jasun Envirocare on celebrating its 50th anniversary. I have been very impressed by what I have seen and enjoyed hearing more about the company, its products, its staff and its plans for the future. Bridgwater is fortunate to have such a major company based here. I wish them all the best for the future.”

The name of the company - Jasun - was created from the founder’s daughter’s names, Jane and Susan.

“We have grown to be one of the UK’s leading air filter manufacturers, priding ourselves on our family values," Mr Hitch added. "We are now onto our third generation of family members, our founding principles remain true."
