A main road linking Greater Manchester and Lancashire was closed in both directions, following a crash. The incident took place close to the border of Bolton and Darwen, just before 8am this morning (Tuesday May 3).
A666 Blackburn Road, in Egerton, was closed between Cox Green Road and Longworth Road after the collision. Photographs shared on social media show damage to a garden wall and multiple vehicles.
Emergency services were scrambled to the scene, with police and firefighters both in attendance according to witnesses. It is not confirmed yet whether there have been any injuries.

Traffic monitoring website Inrix posted an update which read: "A666 Blackburn Road in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident between Cox Green Road (the Ciao Baby Italian Restaurant) and Longworth Road."
It has also had a knock-on effect on bus services and a photograph shared with the Manchester Evening News show a bus stuck behind the crash. At 8.23am, Diamond Bus North West tweeted: "Due to a serious RTA the 533 service is currently unable to serve Bromley cross due to the road being closed. We will continue to update as we find out more information."
The road re-opened at around 9.50am. Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for further information.
