Maharashtra's best Vidit, Raunak falter as Svidler, Short bring parity with easy wins in round 2

NAGPUR: A day after Maharashtra's best Grandmasters gave an emphatic start to their campaign, Vidit Gujrathi and Raunak Sadhwani came under time pressure as experienced overseas GMs Peter Svidler and Nigel Short brought parity in their Challenger Match of the Maharashtra chess festival on Friday.

While Vidit failed to defend with his black pieces to lose the second round against Svidler in 39 moves, Raunak lost his way in the intricacies of the French defense as Short made him resign in 35 moves.
