MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government hiked the dearness allowance for its 17 lakh employees by 3%.

The announcement came within hours of the Centre announcing a similar hike for its employees and pensioners from January 1, 2022.

DA is paid as a means to offset the effects of inflation.

The state employees will earn 31% of the basic as DA.

Further, they will also be paid their arrears pending since July 1, 2021. The revised DA will be paid in cash along with the March salary.
