Navi Mumbai: The BHMS doctor from Pen, arrested over a botched abortion that led to the death of a woman, did not maintain patient records at his Johe village and Pen dispensaries, said Dadar Sagari police.

API Govindrao Patil has appealed to citizens to come forward and provide information on any illegal abortions done by Dr Shekhar Dhumal. In April, Dr Dhumal, had prescribed 10 abortion pills to Anita Koli (29), who was 14 weeks pregnant.

Her health began deteriorating and she died at JJ Hospital on July 5. Police arrested Dr Dhumal (67), Anita's husband Roshan and her mother-in-law. On Friday, police arrested Anita's sister-in-law Devta Bhoir and brother-in-law Vinayak Bhoir from Nagothane. -
