Magic Johnson has established quite a reputation for himself online for sharing quick takes and reactions to the latest news in sports on social media. Now the NBA legend-turned-NFL-owner finds himself among Commanders fans with his displeasure.
Johnson, a member of the new Washington ownership group, wasn’t pleased with the team’s Sunday performance against the Giants. The Commanders lost 14–7 and the former Lakers star shared his analysis of what went wrong.
“Disappointing 14–7 loss for my Commanders to the NY Giants,” Johnson wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “It’s hard to win in the NFL when you only score 7 points.”
He’s not wrong. Johnson’s take may seem obvious, but it’s refreshing to see him delve into the NFL world, and Commanders fans appear to be more than happy to have him. A fair amount of them found his exploration of the loss more than entertaining. Here are some of best reactions to his bold take:
I just crunched the numbers, and Magic Johnson is right.

Teams that score 7 points only win 9.875% of the time (182-1,630-31 all-time). That is not a likely outcome according to the laws of probability. https://t.co/IcBSIOUXZj
Lowkey love Magic Johnson as an owner of the Commanders because he tweets just like a fan lol.

Not only is it hard to win in the NFL when you only score 7 points, it’s hard to score only 7 or fewer points, period.

But he’s correct: NFL teams are 0-16 this season when scoring 7 or fewer points. https://t.co/mZ4K3n72Jk
