'Magic' air fryer bagels need just two ingredients for a golden finish in 10 minutes

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know how much air fryers have taken the cooking world by storm in the last year. Dubbed the do-it-all of the kitchen, the humble appliance has skyrocketed in popularity during the cost of living crisis as people look for cheaper ways to cook without running an oven.

Food lovers have been rustling up everything from full Sunday roasts to perfectly boiled eggs in their air fryers, thanks to their versatility. They often cost less to run than more traditional appliances which is great news for anyone being more conscious of their energy consumption. But it's the creative recipes that have really got people talking.

If you're struggling for lunch inspiration, you're in luck as one foodie has shared how to make delicious golden bagels in the air fryer, and it couldn't be any easier.

The simple recipe involves just two ingredients and only takes 10 minutes to cook so you'll be reaping the benefits of your efforts in no time.

Taking to TikTok to share his wisdom, Arman, a two-time cookbook author also known as The Big Man's World, showcased an easy-to-follow guide on the bagel recipe.

To start, all you'll need is some self-raising flour and yoghurt - according to him, any type will do.

The foodie explains: "Easy, homemade two-ingredient dough bagels made in the air fryer - no yeast and easily made dairy-free.

"In a mixing bowl, add self-raising flour and yoghurt, any kind works."

"Mix the two ingredients together until a thick dough is created," he explains, then split the dough into portions and form it into balls.

For anyone looking to cut out dairy, Arman explains that dairy free yoghurt works just fine for the recipe.

Then comes the hardest part: forming the shape of the dough. Thankfully, even this is simple, as all you need to do is roll your dough ball into a sausage shape before forming a circle and pressing the two ends together to seal it in place.

Once you've nailed the bagel shape, simply brush them with 'a little melted butter' and sprinkle your 'favourite toppings' on top and they'll be ready to cook. Arman plumps for sesame seeds on his for a tasty crunch.

If you don't want to top with butter, you could opt for milk or cream instead as they'll do the trick.

"Air fry for 10 minutes and bam, golden and perfectly cooked bagels, ready to fill with your favourite fillings," Arman says, before revealing the mouth-watering golden goodness.

He warns anyone trying the recipe to avoid overfilling the air fryer basket, as bagels will spread and rise while cooking.

Depending on the size of your air fryer, you should be able to fit three to five bagels in the basket.

Another important tip Arman shares is to let your bagels cool down fully before slicing them, to get the best results.

Foodies flocked to the comments section on the video to share their thoughts, with many trying the recipe themselves.

One person wrote: "OK so I just try these amazing are used almond flour instead of regular self rising flour and regular plain or regular yogurt amazing amazing amazing"

Others were keen to buy an air fryer just to try the hack, as one wrote: "Okay now I have to get an air fryer!"
