MAGA revolter MTG posts vacation snaps with fellow Trump foe Massie and then shares Charlie Kirk conspiracy theory

Sidelined from the halls of power after turning critical of President Donald Trump, two conservative firebrands escaped for a tropical getaway, where the fishing was good and the conspiracy theories flowed.

Former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and outgoing Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie just returned from a vacation to Costa Rica with their spouses, and posted snaps of what they jokingly branded the "America First Pacific Summer Retreat."

A video shows the pair strolling a beach in casual attire and heading out to sea on a fishing vessel. At one point, Massie appeared to reel in a hefty catch, drawing cheers and high-fives.

“Took a great trip to see my good friend Marjorie Taylor Greene in Costa Rica,” Massie wrote on X on Friday. “We discussed the future of politics in America.”

The laid-back scene took place thousands of miles from the U.S. Capitol, where the duo were among the small group of Republicans who challenged the president on lightning-rod issues — and paid a steep price.

Both Greene and Massie pushed for the release of the government’s files on Jeffrey Epstein and opposed the ongoing Iran war, prompting Trump to swiftly turn on them and pledge support for primary challengers.

The 79-year-old president labeled Massie “the worst and most unreliable Republican Congressman in the history of our Country,” while deriding Greene as “wacky” and a “ranting lunatic.”

Rather than enter into a bloody battle to maintain her seat, Greene opted to retire in January. Earlier this month, Massie lost his primary to Trump loyalist Ed Gallrein in what became one of the most expensive primaries in U.S. history.

Throughout and after their warm-weather trip, the duo delivered a mix of thinly veiled and direct attacks on the Trump administration.

After U.S. Southern Command announced yet another strike on an alleged trafficking vessel, the outgoing Kentucky congressman posted a picture giving a thumbs up on X, along with the caption: “Marked Safe! Our fishing vessel survived South Com in the East Pacific yesterday.”

The next day, Greene posted a 700-word screed lamenting her and her colleague’s ouster, arguing that Trump had broken his campaign promises and knee-capped the torchbearers of the MAGA movement.

“We just said goodbye to our good friends Thomas and Carolyn Massie,” Greene wrote. “The civil war in the Republican Party is successfully gutting the true America Firsters, like myself, Thomas and others.”

“After taking the hard principled stand against war with Iran in June 2025 and releasing the Epstein files, the neocon controlled Republican establishment now backed by the President set out to destroy us,” she continued. “The extent and extremes to which they have gone should shock everyone.”

Despite having a “perfect conservative voting record,” the GOP turned its back on her, she said, adding that she didn’t stand a chance against “low educated Republicans” who were manipulated by bots and social media influencers peddling lies.

She then shifted her focus to Massie.

Greene attributed his primary loss to “vicious” lies and “naive” voters who fell for “Israel funded” smears against him. She then likened his defeat to the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, invoking a vague conspiracy theory about him.

“What they just did to Thomas Massie is unforgivable,” the former Georgia congresswoman wrote. “I saw it all coming early, had just watched my friend Charlie Kirk assassinated, and knew they were going to do all of it and probably worse to me too, so I refused to allow it to happen to me, my family, and my district, so I resigned. But Thomas stayed in the fight and they slaughtered him with tens of millions of foreign donor dollars that fueled lies, slander, character assassination…”

“The capture is complete,” she concluded. “What will you do about it?”

When reached by The Independent, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle made clear the administration is glad to be rid of the two outspoken lawmakers.

“Thanks to President Trump, there are two less Low-IQ losers in the United States Congress,” Ingle said. “Marjorie ‘Quitter’ Greene quit on her constituents in the middle of her term, and Thomas Massie just had his ass handed to him by the great people of Kentucky’s 4th district.”
