MAGA influencer Nicholas Fuentes, who posted "Your body, my choice" on social media after Donald Trump's election, has been charged with battery for allegedly pepper-spraying a woman who knocked on his door to contest the viral sexist posting, according to a report.
The 26-year-old Fuentes was booked on the misdemeanor count last Wednesday by police in the Chicago suburb where he lives, the Smoking Gun reported.
The charge comes from an alleged confrontation Fuentes, who promotes white supremacy on social media, had with self-described progressive and feminist Marla Rose, 57, who showed up at his home in Berwyn on Nov. 10.
Rose told police that after seeing his posting online she decided to go to his home and record a video, and while there she rang Fuentes' doorbell.
A witness told police that Fuentes opened the door and allegedly "immediately sprayed her in the face with pepper spray and pushed her with both hands on her upper body, causing her to fall backwards down the stairs and onto the concrete below," the outlet reported.
He then grabbed Rose's phone and went back inside for a moment before returning to the door.
After Fuentes allegedly sprayed Rose in the face "with what she believed was pepper spray," Rose was pushed to the ground and Fuentes "grabbed her phone and threw it against the concrete floor," the Smoking Gun said.
Rose, in an interview with Vice days after the encounter, said she was "angry" about Fuentes' posting.
"It was kind of unremarkable because we know who these individuals are, we know that they try to inflame, but we also know that this reveals their mentality as well. It's not just trolling, not that that's justifiable," she said.
"So, I guess what I thought was, 'Well, he's a douchebag, and what do you expect?' I can't say I was surprised or anything like that. Angry, but not livid, you know? It's just kind of just another disgusting thing," she said.
Fuentes told a Berwyn police officer that he had "posted a political joke online and for the past three days has been getting online death threats and people showing up at his house unannounced."
He said the encounters left him in "fear for his life."
The officer then said Fuentes "became uncooperative" and refused "to speak about or answer any questions in regards to the incident with Marla."
Fuentes was released and ordered to appear in court on Dec. 19.
