Clutch your wine glasses, ‘cos the Married At First Sight (MAFS) behind-the-scenes drama is in full throttle with Bec Zacharia addressing Gia Fleur‘s scathing claim that she called her a “trashy slut” during the hens night — AKA the first episode.
ICYMI, MAFS 2026 has officially kicked off with a new batch of singles giving up their time for a shot at love.
However, shortly after episode one aired, which featured the hens party, Gia claimed that fellow 2026 bride, Bec, called her “tashy slut” ahead of the first round of weddings.
“She said it to my face, very early on in the night,” Gia claimed in an interview with Chattr.
“That was at the beginning of the evening, before I’d said anything, but that wasn’t shown, so I get why people are thinking I’m horrible, but a lot of things are out of context, and not the whole evening was shown.”

Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Bec denied calling Gia a “trashy slut”, and that “nothing off camera wasn’t shown”.
“She has gone on the record to say that I made a pretty bad slur towards her, and it just never happened,” Bec told P.TV.
“You guys heard me doing wee, flushing the toilet and saying, ‘Oh God, I haven’t shaved the back of my legs’. Now, if that’s going to be on TV, I think me saying a pretty awful slur to Gia would be put on the show.”
When asked why Gia would make such a scathing claim, the 2026 bride speculated that the accusation might have stemmed from fear of her final edit and how Australia would perceive her and her actions.
“I think she’s potentially going into a bit of damage control and trying to shift that narrative of her being a mean girl to maybe me, to try and soften the blow for her. That’s my feeling,” Bec said.
“You know, I’m wishing her well [and] hoping that she gets everything she wants out of Married at First Sight. But I think that that is the direction she’s trying to go.”
Are Married At First Sight‘s Bec and Gia friends?
While Bec admits that Gia was her “arch nemesis” throughout the show — even warning us to “buckle up” as the season goes on — Bec claimed she tried to be friends with her post-reality TV. However, she eventually had to “take a step back” from her fellow bride.
“We actually really did try to form a friendship. We really tried,” Bec revealed.
“But unfortunately for me, I had to take a step back from Gia. I sort of blocked all communication from her if I’m honest with you, because I didn’t feel that it was aligning with who I am.”
Despite their differences, Bec praised Gia for being a “great mother to her daughter” and for having “respect” for Gia when it comes to her parenting.
We’re still in the early days of MAFS 2026, so we’ve yet to see much of Gia and Bec’s feud play out. However, judging by the promos, snippets, and both of them spilling behind-the-scenes tea, I think we’ll take on Bec’s advice when she said “buckle up”.
It’s bound to be one bumpy ride that’ll launch us back to Domenica Calarco and Olivia Frazer days.
